The company
OTIP/RAEO was founded in 1977 by the five teacher affiliates of Ontario, and they focus exclusively on the province's educational employees, providing them with a range of insurance products and services. In the fourth quarter of 2000, OTIP/RAEO launched the Edvantage Discounts Program, a rewards program offering special discounts to OTIP/RAEO policyholders.
The challenge
When OTIP/RAEO approached us to develop the web site for their Edvantage program, they knew they needed a bilingual site that would be personalized for each user and that would immediately show them the benefits that the program has to offer for them. Their virtual community also had to be flexible enough so that their corporate partners could advertise their promotions in a way that supports their brand, and be very easy for various OTIP/RAEO staff to maintain.
The solution
With OTIP/RAEOs target audience in mind, we assembled a conservative yet sophisticated-looking web site with an emphasis on usability. Our information architects, maintaining this user focus, developed an extensive set of back-end applications that provide users with many methods of finding the information they are looking for. We personalized the experience by co-branding the web site with each users affiliate, and by providing them with the ability to view the site in the language of their choice (English or French.)
For OTIP/RAEOs internal usage, we also created a variety of specialized site tracking reports and provided them with the ability to maintain most of the sites content through web-based administration tools.
